As you can probably guess, I’m not really into Valentine’s day, but when I saw the gorgeous heart cookies on Anh’s blog, I just had to make them. Then, as I was surfing for cookie recipes, I found oh-too-cute holiday ice box cookies on Martha Stewart. The recipe there mentions that the ice box cookies are just prettified sugar cookies, so I used my own go-to sugar cookie recipe (the recipe that came out of the box of Star Wars cookie cutters from Williams Sonoma).
In case you're wondering what those flecks in the cookie are, I replaced about 1/3 of the plain flour with wholemeal flour.
I can’t wait to experiment with more patterns and words, and one day hopefully when I haven’t got computer fatigue, I’ll even try to put together a tutorial on how I did the words. In the meantime here’s a rough drawing of how I did the letters “M” and “I” and hopefully you can figure out the rest.

Have a great start to the week and Malaysian Monday will appear soon (hopefully). My pal Suresh from 3 Hungry Tummies will be hosting the next round-up, so please send your entries to sureshchong(at)yahoo(dot)com.

What fun! Love your designs on them and ideas are flowing in all directions!
These cookies look great, must be a lot of work, not easy to get something so brilliant out of it, congrats.
There so cute. Must be every girls favourite.
SO impressive, shaz! with my luck, i'd go to all the trouble of making these and i'll have spelled something incorrectly! :)
How fun and so colorful too. Happy Valentine's day.

gosh i'm not artistically inclined at all and i suck at '3d perception' so this is definitely semething that i won't be able to work out without detailed instructions. your diagrams will come in handy when i attempt these one day, heh

Thanks everyone :) I had such fun, thinking of trying to bake more words soon.
Oooh...these cookies look so gorgeous, shaz. I love the illustrated tutorial how to get them that way. Without it, I'd be lost! Yay, I can make and impress those I make them for :)
What cute cookies! Although the Star Wars cookies would have been pretty great, too.
Lovely cookies - you always make them look so easy and wonderful. I have to make my own soon. Have a good weekend!
